Hard work and drive has paid off for one Toowoomba woman, who went from offering beauty services in her garage to opening her very own CBD salon.
After working in her home-based garage set-up for about four years, Haley Potter has opened her very own salon – Kapow Beauty and Brow in Toowoomba’s CBD.
“To be honest, I didn’t know if this would ever happen for me and looking back, I’m not really sure how it has happened,” Ms Potter said.
“I just remember working in the garage and writing down a date for when I wanted to open my salon and that date came and that dream came true.”
Ms Potter said she hopes to use her cosmetic tattooing skills to help build people’s confidence, whether it be those who have lost their eyebrows due to a medical condition, correcting scars or by tattooing areolas on trans people.
The new business owner has also turned her store into a retail space, which is at the former site of Notorious Barbers.
Showcasing quirky pieces, the store sells kaftans, crystals, retouched vintage artworks, and even taxidermy mice wearing costumes.
“I see the beauty in everything and taxidermy is the ultimate way to recycle,” Ms Potter said.
“It really hits home for me how loved I am and how much people believe in me – I wouldn’t have any of this without my family, friends and the Toowoomba community.
Kapow Beauty and Brow is upstairs at 424 Ruthven St.
