Nothing can brighten up a day more than receiving a surprise bouquet of gorgeous blooms, especially when they get delivered by a top-secret agent.

Haley Potter, 40, recently launched her new business Secret Flower Service – a delivery operation with a special surprise – and just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Teaming up with her close friend and the owner of Mei’s Flowers for supply, Ms Potter’s new venture involves her dressing up as a secret agent to deliver fresh farm flowers to lucky recipients across the region, where the sender’s identity is part of the mystery and fun.

After previously owning social enterprises that focused on employing and assisting people with lived mental health experiences, Ms Potter discovered her drive for helping others.

The beauty therapist, who also runs her own home-based studio, decided she wanted to study cosmetic tattooing so she could offer the service to cancer survivors.

“Having a business like that really put me on track to focus on doing things that make others feel good,” she said.

“The (cosmetic tattooing) course is a bit expensive, so I realised I needed a second stream of income to fund my study and dream.”

Since launching her new flower delivery business this year, Ms Potter said the reactions had been both heartfelt and priceless.

“I love surprising people, giving gifts and acts of service, so it makes me so happy to see the smiling faces of recipients,” she said.

“It’s so funny when I show up in my secret agent costume and some of them ask me if I’m going to do a dance, but I don’t want to break character, so I’m very serious and stoned-faced and I just say ‘secret agents don’t dance, maam’.”

Bunches are picked fresh from the farm each day so the secret agent assures clients that they will last longer than they can probably “keep a secret”.
