New barber shop set to open in heart of Toowoomba CBD

An award-winning hairdresser is expanding into the barber shop scene with a new business venture that will give Toowoomba men stylish and classic looks.

Notorious Barbers' Savannah Scheiwe gives Josh Moore a quick trim.

NOTORIOUS by name and stylish by nature – a new barber shop is ready to cut, style and colour Toowoomba residents.

Right in the heart of the CBD, Notorious Barbers is the brain child of Robert Verwey and his business partner.

Mr Verwey, who also owns RMV Hair and was named The Chronicle’s Best Hairdresser last year, has been in the industry for more than 10 years.

“We’re really looking forward to opening,” Mr Verwey said.

“We think we have a great space. A space that’s exclusive off the street and comfortable.

“Some where that men can chill out, get a fresh (hair) cut and colour as well if they want.”

Savannah Scheiwe has made the move from Dalby and will act as the shop’s primary barber.

“A lot of men are going for zero fades and skin fades at the moment. The nothing look on the back and sides,” she said.

“But at the same time you get the guys who have had the same hair cut for years – we do it all.”

For the fashion conscious the shop will also stock an exclusive Melbourne clothing brand.

“We’re stocking Billy Bones Club clothing – a line that we think matches really well with the shop,” Mr Verwey said.

Opening on April 26 at 1/424 Ruthven Street, customers will be able to walk-in or make a priority booking online.
