More than 1000 people dressed to dazzle and enjoyed a ladies fundraising luncheon for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation on Friday.
The sold-out event at The Goods Shed featured a diamond draw, were one lucky lady winning a sparkling diamond bracelet from Hogans Family Jewellers.
Nine ladies and one gentleman were in the final draw for the diamond, as each person rummaged through a tinsel tank to draw out a glass diamond.
On inspection, the winning unique diamond was picked by Roslyn Reilly, a former nurse who has served on the hospital foundation’s board for 25 years, and previous to her retirement taught nursing at the University of Southern Queensland.
“I didn’t really think I had a chance at all,” Ms Reilly said.
Excited to be part of the fundraiser luncheon, Ms Reilly said it was very important to raise funds for a regional cancer centre.
“There’s needs to be dedicated areas for patients to be treated, and specifically treat them for their conditions,” she said.
“It’s a very worthy cause.”
Ms Reilly chose a diamond bracelet as her prize.
More than $100,000 was raised during the luncheon and will go towards Toowoomba’s new regional cancer centre, set to transform the cancer care within Toowoomba and the Darling Downs.
