It might be a Monday morning, but NFL-mad Toowoomba locals made sure to drop plenty of chicken wings and beer as part of a massive Super Bowl party in the CBD.
Tailgate Sports Bar was packed to the rafters as more than 50 residents donned team colours to watch the epic finale to the American football season between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Bar owner Ben Whibley-Faulkner said the event was becoming more popular every year.
“We sold out a couple of days ago, and we’ve sold even more tickets this year — we had people calling up begging to see if we can squeeze them in,” he said.
“We ‘sell out’ and then we still sell extra tickets.
“Taylor Swift has brought in a lot more young people and women to be interested in the game.”
