From strolling through market stalls to walking back in time, there’s lots to do in the Toowoomba region this weekend.

1. Cemetery walking tour
Explore Toowoomba’s history and learn about the people who built our community during a walking tour of the Drayton Cemetery.
Expert guides will reveal gripping stories of hardships and hangings, triumph and tragedy, ingenuity, innovation, mischief, and murder.
Adventure through time to explore cemetery symbolism, craftsmanship, and funeral and burial practices of a bygone era.
The tour starts at 3.30pm, Saturday.
2. Country music concert
The Country Garden Country Music Association will host a concert on Sunday from 12.30pm to 4.30pm featuring performances from a variety of talented members.
Held at the St John’s Lutheran Church Hall at 431 Bridge St, Wilsonton admission is $8 for non members and $5 for members which includes an afternoon tea.
3. Makers Markets
Toowoomba’s biggest indoor markets return for their monthly exhibition of the best of our region’s makers.
Hosted at Railway Goods Shed on Victoria St, the markets will also include food trucks and face painting for the kids.
With more than 80 stallholders to display their wares, there’s sure to be something for everyone. The Makers Market is on Sunday from 8am to 1pm.
4. Come and try day
Southern Suburbs Junior Rugby League Football Club will host a come and try morning on Saturday for girls interested in learning more about the great sport of rugby league.
Take part in some skills sessions and get to know other members of the club at the Gold Park Sporting Club, Hume St, Centenary Heights from 10am to 11.30am. RSVP at https://forms.gle/JgoawVbrf9BGUPDS7.
5. Yoga workshop
Antara Studios is hosting a two-hour session to help reflect, release and set meaningful intentions.

6. Superbowl LIX
Pubs across the Garden City will be coming down with football fever come Monday for this year’s Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
Fitzy’s Toowoomba will be hosting an event from 9am to 3pm featuring the game, American beer and food.
The Stock Hotel on Anzac Ave will also show the game from 9am.
7. Watch a movie
There’s something for everyone playing at Toowoomba’s cinemas this weekend.

8. Markets
Stock up on fresh produce and homemade goodies for your weekend celebrations at one of Toowoomba’s quality markets.
Every Saturday Toowoomba Farmers’ Market is as 27 Lindsay St, East Toowoomba (near the windmills at Cobb Co Museum) from 7am to 12pm, and every Sunday the Toowoomba PCYC Market is at 219 James St from 7am to 12.30pm.
9. Parkrun
Keep on top of your new year’s resolutions by joining in on the weekly parkrun in Queens Park on Saturday morning from 7am.
10. Day at the races
Horses will take to the track at Clifford Park Racecourse this Saturday.
The betting ring and main bar opens from 10am, and live racing kicks off at 4pm.
Adult tickets are $10, while concession card holders and children aged between 13-17 can enter for $5.
Children aged under 12 can enter for free.
