Pop-up ethical gift shop Mosaic Hues opens in Rowes complex

The new store stocks a range of wonderful gifts, jewellery and clothing, but best of all, every purchase will help fund important community projects like teaching refugee kids to read or supporting First Nations artisans.

Hoping to capitalise on the silly season spending and raise much-needed funding for its education projects, Mosaic Hues has opened a pop-up gift store in the Toowoomba CBD.

The store is located on the bottom floor of the Rowes complex in Keefe Street and will be open for about a month.

Owner Rachael Carter said every item for sale fits within the social enterprise’s mission to do good and help people in need.

“All the products in it are either ethically or locally sourced and the revenue from the shop goes to resource programs we do with refugees, teaching conversational English with adults and running reading classes for primary-aged children,” she said

“In the future we would like to do traineeships for women.”

The store’s range includes Karma Collective candles that are local made, vegan friendly and donate half of it profits to help animals, handbags and homewares from local First Nations Artisan JLW Leather and heat bags from Inspirational Heat Bags which supports domestic violence victims in Australia and educates children in Africa plus much more.

“Every gift supports a good cause that has impact beyond the buyer and receiver,” Ms Carter said.

Mosaic Hues provides its education programs through partnerships with Hope for our Children and Youth with a Mission Australia.

The Mosaic Gift Shop is open from 9am-5pm from now until December 23.
