The opening of Oporto’s first drive-through restaurant is the culmination of three years of hard work and determination for franchisee Reddy Goguri.
“This is my dream to open a drive-through fast food store — now I’m in my own place and I’m pretty happy,” he said.
Mr Goguri was on-site for the launch of his second Oporto on Anzac Avenue in Harristown, where he hopes to capture plenty of customers in Toowoomba’s growing western suburbs.
“I found the site and we knew Oporto had a good brand name in Toowoomba, and we knew we needed one on the western side of town,” he said.
“It’s a good location, on a main highway so it will get people from the western suburbs, like Newtown and Glenvale - there’s massive growth here.”
After opening his first location at the Intersection in South Toowoomba in 2017, the long-time resident was proactive in securing the site for Oporto from developer Campbell Knox.
Along with offering a new eatery, Mr Goguri said he focused on employing Toowoomba residents.
“We wanted to give locals jobs, so we have 18 locals at this store and in total 41 staff across two stores,” he said.
The national chain is offering a chance to win a year’s worth of Oporto, by purchasing a meal and creating a FlameRewards account.
