Darling Downs and West Moreton Public Health Network had a record-breaking week of vaccinations as the state continues to push towards the magic 80 per cent vaccinated mark.
From October 16 to 24 more than 2600 Pfizer vaccines were administered across the PHN’s 24 vaccination sites in Laidley, Gatton, Granthan, Dalby, Wandoan, Redbank Plain, Toowoomba and Ipswich.
As part of the Queensland Government’s “Super Saturday” vaccination blitz weekend the PHN also operated hubs at schools including Wilsonton and Oakey State High Schools.
Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN CEO Merrilyn Strohfeldt thanked everyone who got vaccinated for being proactive in arming themselves against Covid-19.
“The PHN is working diligently with health and hospital services, local councils, communities, and primary health care professionals to continue to provide increased access to the vaccine throughout the Darling Downs and West Moreton region,” she said.
“The school hubs will return in three weeks to administer dose two of the Pfizer vaccine.”
Darling Downs Health also held vaccination clinics across the region on Saturday, and acting executive lead for Covid-19 response Michelle Forrest said hundreds of doses were administered.
“We were very pleased with the response to the Super Saturday schools clinics,” Ms Forrest said.
“Darling Downs Health provided clinics at Murgon State High School with 119 vaccinations provided; the Nanango State High School clinic provided 80; the Crows Nest State School clinic provided 64; and 24 vaccinations were provided at the clinic at Tara Shire State College.
“I’d like to thank everyone who came along to receive their vaccination.”
Ms Forrest said the DDH vaccination centre at Clifford Gardens has also been extremely well received by the community, with 633 on Saturday and 675 on Sunday.
“We welcome everyone who comes to receive their vaccination, so whether you have a booking or are a walk-in, our team will do their very best you through as quickly as possible,” she said.
