Here are just some of the things that happened this week and made us smile.

Growing success for re-established local wildlife program

Toowoomba has welcomed the return of the Land For Wildlife program with open arms after its launch was a big success.

More than 40 people attended the event last weekend

In addition, 40 casuarina trees were planted to assist the threatened species of Glossy Black Cockatoos who lost a large portion of their feeding stock during the bushfires and drought.

Sweet new venture spreads honey and wings

Toowoomba’s hive for start-up businesses is buzzing, and you could say one sweet new venture is the “bees knees”.

With a passion for agriculture for as long as they can remember, Kristina and Tony Duff have had a dream to harvest their own raw honey since the pair first began dating.

Now husband and wife, the couple has made their ideas a reality and recently launched their new Toowoomba business Hope Honey.

Shed doors open for coffee to go

A new coffee hotspot is in town, and the owner said Toowoomba residents could expect a unique and convenient experience.

Set to open bright and early on Monday morning, The Shed Coffee Drive Thru will be serving breakfast, lunch and snacks and allows customers to purchase fresh produce and pantry items for dinner.

The Shed Coffee Drive Thru owner Ted Ellison said in a unique twist, staff members would come and take orders from and deliver the food to the customer’s car window so they didn’t need to leave their vehicle.

Footy fans go-nuts for doughnuts

Queensland may have lost on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t all bad after a local business baked up a special surprise.

Homestyle Bake Toowoomba is celebrating the series with its longstanding tradition that sees maroon and blue doughnuts made to order for every Origin game.

The sweet treat is set to pump up fans from across the region when Queensland and NSW battle it out on the footy field on for the remaining two games.

Show goes on for local production after Covid delay

Toowoomba playwright Dave Searston knows the world of theatre well after he has been bringing productions to the local and international stage for just shy of 20 years.

And while executing a production is nothing new for the experienced performer, his upcoming show is.

The variety show will see Mr Searston’s show Bananas hit the stage followed by one-man show Hell Yeah by Nick Joy.
