Shoppers notice disgusting trend in ALDI mince

Whilst some think it's okay, others say they wouldn't even feed the meat to their dogs.

Mince is supposed to be one of the simplest things to buy and eat. It always looks the same, smells the same, and tastes the same - no funny business.

But, one Aussie mum hasn’t had quite that same experience, with her ALDI purchase looking a little… questionable - and it seems to be the continuation of a disgusting trend.

“Is this okay?”

An Aussie mum has taken to the ALDI Mums Facebook group sharing a photo of her less than desirable looking mince.

“Just brought this! Is it ok to use? The top is fine, this is bottom,” she wrote.

In the photo, you can see the mince has turned almost completely brown, despite not having touched any heat. Yuck!

People were torn

Commenters on the post were divided, with many saying they wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole.

“Absolutely not. This looks almost par cooked - clearly been exposed to oxygen and warmth,” one commenter said.

“Nope! Why does it look cooked?” another agreed.

“I'm pretty casual when it comes to meat but I'd be taking that back,” another person said.

“Not even for the dog,” said a fourth.

However, just as many people said the meat was completely fine.

“If there is no smell and in date it is absolutely fine,” said one commenter.

“If it doesn't smell, it's good,” another agreed.

“So many people on here need to do some research before wasting food…” a third person said.

It’s happened before

But, it turns out this isn’t the first time this has happened with ALDI mince.

Another woman posted in the same Facebook group in May last year sharing a similar discovery.

“Would you say this meat is off? It doesn’t look a good colour and is still in expiry,” she said at the time.

And, advice was just as divided.

Ultimately, though, the message was clear - if in doubt, chuck it out!
