Meghan Markle explains why she keeps posting ‘private’ moments online

The Duchess of Sussex has opened up to British businesswoman Emma Grede on her podcast, and answered the questions so many of us have been asking.

Meghan Markle has spoken out for the first time since her video dancing to Starrkeisha's viral ‘Baby Momma’ song took the internet by storm earlier this month.

The Duchess of Sussex has long spoken about her desire for privacy, despite frequently sharing snippets like this of her life on social media.

“I have a place where I can share it on my own terms”

Meghan Markle has officially opened up about her ‘Baby Momma’ video, which has gone completely viral over the last two weeks.

The Duchess of Sussex will be appearing tonight on the Aspire podcast with Emma Grede - a British businesswoman most famously recognised for her work with the Kardashians as the CEO and co-founder of Good American, and as a founding partner of Skims.

“Did you see my ‘Baby Momma’ dance?” Meghan asks Emma in a snippet of the upcoming podcast, shared exclusively with People.

The video was posted to Meghan’s Instagram to celebrate her and Prince Harry’s daughter Lilibet’s fourth birthday.

“Four years ago today, this also happened,” she captioned the post.

“Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work - there was only one thing left to do!”

Emma was gushing over the video, specifically noting its candidness.

“That’s you in a way that we kind of haven’t been able to see you before, and I did a little secret cheer, because I was like, that’s what I kind of want to see from you. I want to see that happiness and that honesty and that ‘I don’t give a fuck’ kind of thing,” Emma said.

And, Meghan seemed to agree.

“That wasn’t yesterday, that was four years ago. So, it’s also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life, a real, authentic, fun life that’s happening behind the scenes,” Meghan said.

“I’m just grateful that now, being back on socials as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms.”

‘On my own terms’ being the key, compared to the consistently public lives of celebrities and royals met with cameras at every turn.

“I would ask people to tell the truth”

In a separate clip of the podcast, shared with Vanity Fair, Meghan also touched on her relationship with her changing public image.

“I wanted to ask you a little bit about the public narrative, because when you sign up to be an actress, you know that people are going to start recognising you, they’re going to start speaking to you on the street, but that’s very different to what you have now,” Emma said.

“I wonder if you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything that you would do differently?”

And to that, Meghan’s answer was simple.

“Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth,” she said.
