'My MIL just called my 2yo boy a diva sl** for wearing pink'

A mother-in-law called her grandson a "diva sl**" for wearing pink shorts.

How to be a good mother-in-law

A mother-in-law called her two-year-old grandson a "diva sl**" for wearing pink shorts.

Over the years, *Kiana’s in-laws have crossed the line more times than she can count… but their latest stunt took things to a new low.

It all started when Kiana and her husband, *Steve, took their two-year-old son to visit his grandparents for the weekend.

At one point, Kiana headed out to see some friends, which is when her in-laws decided to attack the toddler’s wardrobe.

"My MIL called my son a diva sl** for wearing pink shorts"

So what was the item that her in-laws had such a big problem with? A pair of pink bike shorts, of course.

The toddler, who has sensory processing disorder, has plenty of “boy clothes” but loves these shorts for the way they fit him comfortably.

“While I was gone, my MIL randomly said they were too tight and my husband needed to take them off,” Kiana shared on Reddit.

“He (my husband) said they were fine and that’s when she said he looked like a diva sl**.”

Steve was completely caught off guard by the comment – and rushed off to change his son’s shorts without a second thought.

“When I found out I was livid and called her out on it and told her not to sexualise my child again,” Kiana added.

"We've blocked their phone numbers... am I wrong to be upset?"

She confronted her MIL about what had happened, with the elderly woman trying to play the whole thing off as a joke.

Kiana’s MIL explained that she and her husband always jokingly called people “diva sl**” – and that she had said it after Kiana’s FIL had pointed out how short the boy’s shorts were.

But as Steve quickly pointed out to his mum, her husband hadn’t even been in the room at the time.

For Kiana, it didn’t really matter why the comment had been made, she was more upset that “they thought in any universe it was OK to call a two-year-old a sl**”.

In an update, she added that she and her husband have now blocked both of their in-laws on their phones as a result of the incident.

“My son really loves them but this crossed a huge line for me,” she explained.

“We don’t think they’ve noticed they’ve been blocked yet as my spouse expects them to freak out and try other ways of contacting us.

"I’m not sure when or if we will try contacting them again… am I wrong for being so upset about this?”
