I wish my wife wore makeup to our wedding - she ruined our photos

A man wished his wife wasn't so anti-makeup.

The biggest makeup mistakes to avoid

A man's wife was so anti-makeup that she refused to wear it to their wedding - which he said ruined their photos.

As *Stephanie and *Paul planned their wedding, there was one detail about the big day which everyone had a problem with.

It was the fact that the bride wouldn’t be wearing makeup.

“Both of our mothers tried to convince her, but she said she’s never worn makeup and she wasn’t going to start on a day that she was supposed to enjoy,” Paul shared on Reddit.

"I wish my wife had worn makeup to our wedding"

Both Stephanie and Paul’s mothers tried to explain to her that the wedding photos wouldn’t look good without makeup.

But the bride stood her ground – and walked down the aisle without a lick of makeup on her face.

Looking back, Paul wishes that they could have made Stephanie change her mind.

He said that their mums were right about the pictures not looking good, explaining that in the photos, Stephanie has “huge bags under her eyes”.

“I think the photos would’ve been nicer if she’d just put on concealer or something,” he added.

"My wife and sister fought over wearing makeup at a family dinner"

However, Paul has never mentioned this to Stephanie… until now.

The topic of makeup finally came up after a dinner with Paul’s family on Sunday.

During the meal, Paul’s 11-year-old niece, who is just becoming interested in cosmetics – asked Stephanie if she ever wore makeup.

“My wife said ‘no, I don’t bother with it’,” Paul retold.

When the girl asked Stephanie why she didn't wear makeup,  she launched into a long rant about it being a “waste of money” and that she was “happy with the face I have”.

"My sister got mad and said that she wore makeup a lot of the time and didn’t feel like she was lying to herself and that it actually made her feel good,” Paul explained.

“My wife responded ‘oh yeah. I bet you could quit anytime you want’ and then kinda laughed, which set my sister off... and let’s just say the rest of the evening was not enjoyable.”

"I told my wife it wouldn't kill her to wear makeup"

Once they made it home from the disastrous dinner, Paul asked Stephanie if she would consider being “less militant” about makeup.

He told her that it “wouldn’t kill her” to wear it and accused her of being “overbearing” about her “ridiculous” no makeup stance.

“She basically said that she has never started conversations about makeup but that it’s always other people bugging her to wear it,” Paul said.

“I said, ‘maybe they have a point and you’re being hard-line over something really stupid and you need to get over yourself’.

“She got upset and called me a dick for thinking she needed makeup… then we had to go cool down separately.

“Am I an a**hole for asking my wife to lighten up about makeup and telling her to get over her aversion?”
