I won't go to my sister's wedding; I found out something about her baby

"This doesn't even make sense. Let it go," read one response to the 'unhinged' post.

Mum trolled after giving baby 'worst name ever'

Sisters Kate* and Nellie* have always had a rocky relationship - Nellie has always been the golden child, while Kate thinks of herself as more of the 'outsider' of the family

"Growing up, she was the straight-A student and the one who got a full scholarship to some fancy university while I was… well, just me," Kate explains to an online forum.

Fast forward to now, and Kate is six months pregnant with her first child, a little girl!

But of course, the story doesn't end there.

"Stole my baby name"

"I’ve had a name picked out since I was like, 12 years old – Isla Grace. It’s a name that has so much meaning to me. Isla is a nod to our Scottish heritage and Grace was the name of my best friend who passed away in high school," she explains.

Kate says she's told her sister, her mum, her dad, and "literally anyone who would listen", that she was going to name her daughter Isla Grace.

She continues: "They all knew how important this name was to me. A few months ago, my sister got engaged. Her wedding is in two weeks, and everything’s been about her, as usual. Whatever, I’m used to it. But last week, during a family dinner, she casually announced that they’ve chosen their baby's name for when they have kids (she’s not pregnant, btw). And guess what she says? Isla. Grace."

Kate thought she was joking at first, but nope. She was dead serious.

"When I confronted her about it, she acted like it wasn’t a big deal and said, 'Well, you don’t own the name. Besides, I think it sounds pretty with my last name.'

"Um, excuse me? I nearly lost it. I told her she was being selfish and that she knew how much that name meant to me. She just shrugged and said I was overreacting."

Kate ended up getting so pissed that she told her if she were going to use the name, she wouldn’t attend her wedding.

"My parents are freaking out," she said, "calling me immature and telling me to just 'let it go' because 'there are other names out there.' My mum even had the nerve to say, 'It’s just a name, sweetie. Don’t ruin your sister’s big day over this.'

"Now my whole family is mad at me, and I’m being treated like the villain for even considering skipping the wedding. My husband supports me, but he also thinks we should just go to keep the peace. I’m torn between wanting to stand my ground and feeling like maybe I’m blowing things out of proportion.

"So, AITA for refusing to attend my sister’s wedding because she stole my baby name? Or should I just suck it up and let her have her way… again?"

"A bully and a b*tch"

Immediately, people started pointing out the obvious - that her baby's name wasn't actually stolen... yet.

"Is this a joke? She hasn't taken anything because she doesn't have a child! Use the freaking name!" the top commenter wrote.

"I get OP being frustrated and fed up with their sister's antics. However, considering how OP is already pregnant with a girl, their sister won't be able to technically steal the name," echoed a second.

"Her sister might never have children or only have boys, so I don't know why OP is so concerned," noted a third.

Then one user backed the OP up, saying: "I’d consider going no contact and not just skipping the wedding. She sounds like an utter b*tch and a pain to be around.

"Your family sucks too. They obviously don’t care that your sister is a bully and a b*tch. I’d skip the wedding and go at least LC with anyone who gives you any shit about it."
