Don't miss out on the headlines from Best of Toowoomba. Followed categories will be added to My News.
For anyone who owns a small patch of lawn, finding the balance of colour, cut, and symmetry with their lawn is close to achieving nirvana itself.
While Toowoomba is often associated with gardens and flowers, we thought we might give a little recognition to the endless maintenance and care a simple patch of green grass requires – we are on the hunt to find the best lawnlord in the city and we need your help.
From tifftuff couch to kikuyu grass, from Highfields to Harristown, Centenary Heights to Cambooya, Toowoomba is no short of a green patch of pride with regular “renos”, where the lawnlords remove old grass and seed the ground invigorating the lawn, which can be a 7-9 step process.
The soft green symmetry does not come without challenges, and along with daily-to-weekly maintenance the lawnlords battle changing weather conditions and regular ground attacks from green ants to army worms.
Here they are, mowed to perfection, an owners pride and joy and the envy of the neighbourhood – the lawns and their lawnlords.
Voting closes 11.59pm Wednesday, May 8, 2024, with the winner announced the following week.
