10 Things to do in Toowoomba and the Lockyer Valley this weekend

From live music across town, to the latest blockbuster Boxing Day film releases, or whether your looking to get on top of those new year’s resolutions early, here’s 10 things to do this weekend in the Garden City.

If you’re looking for ideas for how to enjoy the first weekend of 2025 in Toowoomba we have you covered. From live music across town, to the latest blockbuster Boxing Day film releases, or whether your looking to get on top of those new year’s resolutions early, here’s 10 things to do this weekend in the Garden City.

1. Pick your own lavender

Head out to the Windy Acres Farm at 160 Westbrook Rd and take in the sunshine and beauty of the lavender fields, and pick your own lavender.

The farm is open on Sunday and Wednesday, from 9am-1pm.

2. Park run

Kick start those healthy habits and new year’s resolutions by joining in on the weekly park run in Queens Park on Saturday morning from 7am.

3. Visit markets

Take a stroll through the Toowoomba Farmers’ Market this Saturday at 27 Lindsay St, East Toowoomba, near the windmills at Cobb and Co Museum.

The Toowoomba Farmers’ Market is on from 7am-noon on Saturday.

The Yarraman Markets, located on the corner of Margaret St and Toomey St, are back for 2025 on Saturday from 7am-midday.

Also check out the PCYC markets which run every Sunday at 219 James St from 7am-12.30pm.

From the best seasonal produce to local wines and spirits, there is sure to be something for everyone.

4. Toowoomba Speedway

For a night of action-packed live entertainment, visit the Toowoomba Speedway on Saturday.

The evening is set to feature sprint cars, the crazy boat and dunny derby and fireworks.

5. Pick summer blooms

Enjoy a morning of sunshine picking your own gorgeous blooms at 35 Greers Rd, Helidon Spa.

The flower farm is open Saturday morning from 7.30am-9am.

Tickets are $25 and are available online.

6. Watch a film

Haven’t seen the latest blockbuster Boxing Day movie releases yet, then be sure to check them this weekend.

Grand Central and The Strand have screenings of Robbie Williams’ eagerly anticipated biopic Better Man.

You can also catch screenings of A Real Pain, Gladiator 11 and Nosferatu.

For the kids, there’s plenty to watch from the latest Sonic film, Moana 2, the live-action remake of Mufasa: The Lion King, and Paddington in Peru.

7. Visit Picnic Point Lookout

Enjoy a picnic this weekend with the whole family while taking in sweeping panoramic views at Picnic Point Lookout and Parkland.

You can also stop by the cafe to enjoy a coffee or have a delicious breakfast or lunch.

8. Highfields Falls

Highfields Falls, which is only a short 15-minute drive north of Toowoomba, is a great place to enjoy walks and bird watching.

There are two one-way walks and five circuits to enjoy which are relatively short and are perfect for the whole-family for some school-holiday fun.

9. Highfields Pioneer Village

You can step back in time and discover Queensland’s heritage at the Highfields Pioneer Village.

Visit the iconic Ambulance Museum and explore Toowoomba’s Fire Brigade Museum.

The Highfields Pioneer Village is open daily 10am-4pm.

10. Live entertainment

If you’re wanting to catch live music this weekend, visit the Bone Idol Brewery.

On Saturday night you can catch performances from Melanie Martin and Paper Lane, and on Sunday evening watch Dale Robbins’ band performing.
