Jurassic Creatures, a realistic animatronics exhibition that’s set to capture the imagination and excitement of children, has finally made it to the Garden City, officially opening on Thursday at Queens Park.
The exhibit features more than 30 dinosaurs displayed throughout Queens Park, 15 of which are realistic animatronics – a technology that mimics the natural movements and sounds of dinosaurs.
The exhibit is already proving to be popular.
Tour manager Georgie Fogarty said the response from everyone who visited on opening day “was great”.
“Everyone seemed happy and all the kids seemed to be really enjoying themselves,” she said.
“It’s perfect for ages three to about 13, and of course for bigger kids because if you love dinosaurs, you love dinosaurs.”
Asked what dinosaur had been most popular among children on opening day, she said, without a doubt, was the life-size animatronic T-Rex.
Floor manager Nathaniel Bower said “everyone seemed to love” the exhibit on opening day, and described the turnout as “great”.
Over the next three weeks, it is expected that more than 5000 will visit the exhibition.
Ms Fogarty said the exhibition, which is slated to run until February 2 with multiple sessions on daily, also featured activities such as a giant ball pit, jumping castles and craft areas.
Kids also have the opportunity, she said, to dress up as palaeontologists and crack eggs open for fossils, and play mini golf too.
Mr Bower said the exhibit was great for kids and adults alike.
“It’s a great day out for the entire family, and for anyone who loves dinosaurs – it’s an unreal experience,” he said.
