What’s on in Toowoomba: 10 things to do this weekend | 18 – 19 January 2025

From exploring a world ruled by dinosaurs to being mystified by an illusionist – check out what’s on this weekend in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs.

From exploring nature with your kids to being awed by magic at the theatre, Toowoomba has an array of workshops and fun activities for everyone. Check out what’s on this weekend.

1. Nature workshop

Exploring shapes, patterns and textures in the world of flora and fauna is what this art workshop is all about for kids aged 7 – 13.

Held at the iconic Cobb & Co museum on Lindsay St, tickets are $55 per child with the workshop running between 10am – 12pm on Saturday, January 18. Get your tickets at museum.qld.gov.au.

2. Toowoomba Warriors Carnival

The annual Toowoomba Warriors Reconciliation Carnival is back again for 2025, with the women’s 9s competition set to be held on January 18 and the men’s competition on January 25.

With players from across the state and NSW competing, there is set to be some talented players running out at Jack Martin Centre.

In the women’s competition, the ATSICHS Sista Girls, Toowoomba Warriors, Oakey, Bradley Dahlstrom Memorial and William Taylor Memorial teams will be competing for glory.

3. Theatre of Magic

This intimate show featuring Australia’s top magicians and illusionists is set to take the stage at the Empire Theatre on Saturday at 5pm and 7.45pm. Tickets start from $69 and are available at empiretheatre.com.au

4. Jurassic Creatures

Time travel back to when the dinosaurs ruled the world in this animatronic exhibition currently at Queens Park. Explore the world in two hour sessions on Saturday at 11am, 2pm, 5pm or Sunday at 11am and 2pm. Tickets start from $25.50.

5. Car Show

The Goombungee Hall will fill up with cars on show from 1pm Sunday. A great day out to celebrate our main mode of transportation over the years.

6. Arthur Postle Gift

Tokyo and Paris Games sprinter Ellie Beer and Stawell Gift star Chloe Mannix-Power will headline the Arthur Postle Gift field in Pittsworth in January.

Action at Club Pittsworth gets underway from 11am on Saturday, January 18 with nominations for the Fastest Footballer races open on the day.

7. Zumba 2025 kick off

Celebrating Zumba with a massive day to kick off the year, Zumba jammer Tamara Pitts will be holding a class at the Toowoomba Grammar School at 6pm, Saturday. Tickets are $30, contact Zumba with Cass on Facebook for tickets.

8. Pinnacle Performing Arts Open Day

Studio tours, aerial demonstrations and much more for families with kids eager to move their body in dance and performance with one of Toowoomba’s leading dance studios at 9.35am Saturday. Bookings can be made by messaging Pinnacle Performing Arts on Facebook.

9. Equitation information day

If you’re looking to improve your equitation this year, the Darling Downs Working Equitation is hosting an information session with recent judges delving into the current rules and how to best understand and implement them. Workshop starts at 9am on Sunday and is held at the Toowoomba City Library.

10. Parallel Play in the Park

This low pressure, calm space put on by New Leaf Social Work in the Botanic Gardens from 3.30pm on Sunday is for anyone seeking some gentle community vibes to create a welcoming neurodivergent space.
