News Corp Australia is the nation’s most-read news and information publisher, according to a groundbreaking new digital audience measurement currency.
News Corp (publisher of The Australian) reaches four in five Australians each month with a digital audience of 16.863 million, 1.168 million more than its closest news competitor Nine Entertainment, according to the inaugural Ipsos iris rankings which will be launched on Monday.
The new independent research method determines digital readership figures from surveys, social media monitoring, and qualitative and observational techniques.
Endorsed by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), the trade association for online advertising in Australia, the new measurement method will provide fresh insights into how Australians aged 14 and over consume digital content across a variety of platforms and devices.
The most popular online categories by total audience size in January include social networking (20.9 million), search (20.9 million), technology (20.8 million), retail and commerce (20.6 million) and entertainment (20.5 million).
According to the inaugural Ipsos iris rankings, News Corp’s news.com.au is Australia’s No. 1 news site, with an audience of 12.863 million.
