Foxtel’s groundbreaking streaming aggregator platform Hubbl has secured 18 partners ahead of its launch this week, including global giants Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video.
The Hubbl technology will allow the platform’s partners to effectively showcase their content in one place, helping customers to search between apps more easily and to simplify the management of their streaming subscriptions.
YouTube, Apple TV+ and Paramount+ have signed on to the platform, as have local streaming apps Kayo Sports, Stan, BINGE, Optus Sport and Flash, and popular local free streaming apps ABC iview and ABC Kids, SBS On Demand, 7plus, 9Now and 10 Play.
Stan, Paramount+ and Optus Sport will officially join Hubbl shortly after this week’s launch.
Hubbl chief executive Patrick Delany said the technology would “effortlessly fuse free and paid entertainment and sport from Australia’s favourite apps, channels, live TV and the internet into one seamless user experience”.
“Hubbl is only as good as the breadth and depth of apps integrated on to the platform to ensure a truly converged streaming experience and in removing frustration when it comes to the choice of what to watch,” he said.
“It’s a huge testament to the transformative Hubbl technology that these world-class and much loved local partners have chosen to reshape the streaming experience with us. The future of TV and streaming is here.”
Among the new apps to appear on Hubbl is LifeStyle, which will offer more than 9000 hours of local and international cooking, property, renovation and travel content. Featuring popular shows such as Selling Houses Australia, Love It or List It Australia, The Great Australian Bake Off, Grand Designs Australia, Property Brothers, Gogglebox, MasterChef, A Place in the Sun, and Escape to the Chateau, Lifestyle will also showcase top-tier programs hosted by world-renowned celebrity cooks such as Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay, Mary Berry, Nigella Lawson and Rachel Khoo.
“Australians love lifestyle shows and we have assembled the best from across Australia and the world. This is an opportunity to reach new viewers that are hungry for our LifeStyle content by creating an easy way to access their favourite shows,” Mr Delany said.
The Lifestyle app is available via subscription for $8 per month.
Hubbl is activated via a small device that plugs into any compatible TV. It is also compatible with Hubbl Glass – a TV with Hubbl and a built-in sound bar that only requires an internet connection and a power cord.
Further details on Hubbl pricing, additional features and its on-sale date will be announced soon.
