Paul Kelly is Editor-at-Large on The Australian. He was previously Editor-in-Chief of the paper and he writes on Australian politics, public policy and international affairs. Paul has covered Australian governments from Gough Whitlam to Anthony Albanese. He is a regular television commentator and the author and co-author of twelve books books including The End of Certainty on the politics and economics of the 1980s. His recent books include Triumph and Demise on the Rudd-Gillard era and The March of Patriots which offers a re-interpretation of Paul Keating and John Howard in office.

Petra Rees is the launch editor of The Australian’s Health & Wellbeing section. Rees has been deputy editor of The Australian since 2016, her second stint in the role, and has previously served as national chief-of-staff, deputy editor of The Weekend Australian Magazine, editor of Review and editor of new magazine publications. The Walkley award winner, who has an honours degree in literature, began her career in journalism more than 40 years ago in Wollongong and also worked at the Times on Sunday.

Georgina Windsor joined The Australian as a cadet journalist and has held many senior editing and reporting roles on the newspaper, including a stint in the Canberra Press Gallery. She was deputy Media editor before joining the Australian Business Review team as deputy editor. She was then Life section editor and Inquirer editor before being appointed the masthead’s deputy editor in 2023.

Vesna Poljak is The Australian’s Business editor, based in Sydney. She joined the newsroom from The Australian Financial Review, where she was Companies and Markets editor, with a special interest in the investment industry, hedge funds and accounting.

Richard Ferguson is the National Chief of Staff for The Australian. Since joining the newspaper in 2016, he has been a property reporter, a Melbourne reporter, and regularly penned Cut and Paste and Strewth. Richard – winner of the 2018 News Award Young Journalist of the Year – has covered the 2016, 2019 and 2022 federal polls, the Covid-19 pandemic, and he was on the ground in London for Brexit and Boris Johnson’s 2019 UK election victory.

Nicholas Jensen is commentary editor at The Australian. He previously worked as a reporter in the masthead’s NSW bureau. He studied history at the University of Melbourne, where he obtained a BA (Hons), and holds an MPhil in British and European History from the University of Oxford.

Damon Johnston has been a journalist for more than 35 years. Before joining The Australian as Victoria Editor in February 2020, Johnston was the editor of the Herald Sun – Australia’s biggest selling daily newspaper – from 2012 to 2019. From 2008 to 2012, Johnston was the editor of the Sunday Herald Sun. During his editorship of the Herald Sun, the newspaper broke the story of Lawyer X, Australia’s biggest police corruption scandal, which was recognised with major journalism awards in 2019. Between 2003 and 2008, Johnston held several senior editorial roles on the Herald Sun, including Chief-of-Staff and Deputy Editor. From 2000 to 2003, Johnston was the New York correspondent for News Corporation and covered major international events including the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the city. After joining the Herald Sun in 1992, Johnston covered several rounds including industrial relations, transport and state politics.

Stephen Rice runs The Australian’s NSW bureau and writes on a wide range of subjects. Hestarted his newspaper career at The Sydney Morning Herald before moving into television, where he became executive producer of Nine’s Sunday and Business Sunday programs. He has worked as a senior investigative producer on 60 Minutes and the Seven Network’s Sunday Night. He has law and arts degrees from the Australian National University and has twice won Walkley awards, including the award for Leadership in Journalism.

Greg Brown is the Canberra Bureau chief. He previously spent five years covering federal politics for The Australian where he built a reputation as a newsbreaker consistently setting the national agenda.

Hedley Thomas is The Australian’s national chief correspondent, specialising in investigative reporting with long-form podcasts about unsolved murders. He has won eight Walkley awards including two Gold Walkleys; the first in 2007 for his investigations into the fiasco surrounding the Australian Federal Police investigations of Dr Mohamed Haneef, and the second in 2018 for his podcast, The Teacher’s Pet, investigating the 1982 murder of Sydney mother Lynette Dawson. Christine Kellett is The Australian’s digital director. She was previously content director, The Weekend Australian’s digital editor and has been a news editor, chief of staff and senior reporter at titles including The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, Brisbane Times and news.com.au.

Award-winning editor Jennifer Campbell has edited a range of sections during her long career at The Australian, including opinion and features. She was also senior editor on The Weekend Australian Magazine for seven years. Campbell won a Walkley Award in 2001 for leading The Australian’s centenary of federation coverage.

Elizabeth Colman began her career at The Australian working in the Canberra press gallery and as industrial relations correspondent for the paper. In Britain she was a reporter on The Times and an award-winning financial journalist at The Sunday Times. She is a past contributor to Vogue, former associate editor of The Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Telegraph, and former editor of the Wentworth Courier. Elizabeth was one of the architects of The Australian’s new website theoz.com.au and launch editor of Life & Times, and was most recently The Australian’s content director.

Natasha Robinson is The Australian’s health editor and writes across medicine, science, health policy, research, and lifestyle. Natasha has been a journalist for more than 20 years in newspapers and broadcasting, has been recognised as the National Press Club’s health journalist of the year and is a Walkley awards finalist and a Kennedy Awards winner. She is a former Northern Territory correspondent for The Australian with a special interest in Indigenous health. Natasha is also a graduate of the NSW Legal Profession Admission Board’s Diploma of Law and has been accepted as a doctoral candidate at QUT’s Australian Centre for Health Law Research, researching involuntary mental health treatment and patient autonomy.

Jamie Walker is a senior staff writer, based in Brisbane, who covers national affairs, politics, technology and special interest issues. Bridget Cormack worked on The Australian’s arts desk from 2010 to 2013, before spending a year in the Brisbane bureau as Queensland arts correspondent. Milanda Rout is the deputy editor of The Weekend Australian’s Travel + Luxury. A journalist with over two decades of experience, Milanda started her career at the Herald Sun and has been at The Australian since 2007, covering everything from prime ministers in Canberra to gangland murder trials in Melbourne. She started writing on travel and luxury in 2014 for The Australian’s WISH magazine and was appointed deputy travel editor in 2023.

Matthew Condon is an award-winning journalist and the author of more than 18 works of both fiction and non-fiction, including the bestselling true crime trilogy – Three Crooked Kings, Jacks and Jokers and All Fall Down.
