“Alone doesn’t mean lonely” is the charming motto of this sanctuary for solo diners. Thirty-four timber dining cubicles are lined up in rows; there’s a gas burner for DIY hot pot and a roller blind that’s raised by your server to deliver food and drinks. Yes, hot pot for one is a reality at WeLive 2.0.

Bases include sweet and sour tomato soup, subtle sukiyaki broth, light and lemony tom yum, and lip-smacking chicken soup. You can add wagyu cuts of all kinds, from oyster blade to tongue, to cook in your chosen base.

The QR-code menu also includes gorgeous snacks. Smoked potato is hidden under vanilla yoghurt foam. Nori crackers, snowpeas and saltbush are arranged like a crunchy sculpture. At lunchtime, bento-like sets with several small dishes are a speedy option.
