The General Washington

The family-friendly dining room at the Washtub has a glass-walled kids' play area that keeps the youngsters in sight but out of earshot. The food doesn't disappoint. The salt-and-pepper squid is tender and seasoned well and the King Island prime sirloin is a thick chunk served on a bed of silky mash drizzled in a rich beef jus: impressive and impossible to fault. A special of pan-seared barramundi is sublime, the tender fish marrying well with the flavours of the roasted capsicum, tomato and lime salsa, which has a good whack of coriander and a hint of chilli. Service is laid-back but friendly.
