Located in what was once a Spanish taverna, with indie-hip Goodgod Small Club at the back, The Dip serves up a well-balanced take on dude food to a young, fun-loving crowd. The main event is gourmet hot dogs, but the roo burger, pulled pork sandwich and chicken wings are hits, too. A surprise star is the nachos; often a limp afterthought, The Dip's version offers the perfect chip-to-topping ratio. There are plenty of places doing this kind of tucker in Sydney, but few manage to nail it as well as they do here, and none can match it for decor, with its crazy grotto-style booths.
