A prevalence of Shanghai joints wins Ashfield its 'Dumpling Belt' nickname, but before xiao long bao arrived, the Poles and their beloved pierogi ruled the school. The Polish Club is a reminder of these times - still standing proud after 45 years and still dishing up stellar dumplings, alongside other classic dishes and beers from the homeland. The club's recently spruced-up restaurant is popular with expats who forgive occasionally shambolic service for a meal ending with paczek - sugar-glazed, jam-centred doughnuts. Before that, tuck into addictive potato pancakes, rustic beef roulade and plenty of pork options.
