Imperial Hotel

13/20

$$

Prominently and auspiciously located opposite the railway station, this Victorian-era heritage pub was first licensed in 1863. It's an honest, if somewhat raw, country pub serving down-to-earth, no-nonsense meals such as schnitzels, 550-gram rumps and specials like a succulent lamb rump. Snacks and sides like potato wedges and garlic bread are standard fare, but don't get too excited about the sommelier's wine list. There's an open fire, big smiles behind the bar and smart tables and chairs but little else: but what else do you need? Maybe live music on Fridays and Saturdays.
