Cowbell 808 (homage to the TR 808 drum machine) has done just that with a fun mix of quality eats, treats and 80s beats. In a kitsch pop culture room - traffic lights, boom boxes, vinyls, b-ball hoop front and centre - the affable waitstaff dish up well-executed milk bar classics. The burger is nostalgic old school, fried chicken with chickpea batter is fab without the necessary crunch, while a happening house-cured ocean trout shows more technical skill. The coffee hits the right notes, too.
