Sydney chef Jeff Schroeter stars in Sexy Cuisine TV
While the term food porn has muscled its way into modern lexicon, it is the starring role of a prominent Sydney chef in a soft-porn shoot in the south of France has set tongues wagging and raised the stakes for the genre.
Jeff Schroeter, the executive chef for a stable of Sydney venues including Opera Kitchen, The Basement and Cod & Co, whips up dishes [clothed] in the production while three topless French models cavort and assist him.
If that sounds a little Charlie's Angels inspired, our Aussie Bosley says even he isn't sure if it is a cooking show or soft porn.
"I don't know what it is, it'll come down to how they edit it," Schroeter explains.
With the first teasers for Sexy Cuisine TV popping up on the internet, viewers can decide themselves.
"We really set out to try and make the breasts disappear [to the viewer]," Schroeter says.
If that is the case, why expose them at all? "That's a good question, I don't know," he replies.
Schroeter, who rose through Sydney restaurants such as Bistro Moncur and Chicane, says he was approached by an "Oscar-winning" documentary filmmaker to take the starring role.
"My wife looked at it and said 'get over there'. She pointed out I'd never been to the south of France and she said the family was coming with me."
Schroeter explains the girls don't just stand there: "I had them all working, taking corn off the cob and jobs like that."
He doesn't know if there'll be a second series but Schroeter intends to keep his whites on. The world doesn't need another Naked Chef.
