Icebergs restaurateur Maurice Terzini to open three-level venue at Circular Quay
Icebergs Dining Room and Bar restaurateur Maurice Terzini's long-held ambitions for a CBD restaurant will finally be realised.
The veteran hospitality operator is part of a group that has snared the mega redeveloped site of Jacksons on George.
The landmark Sydney site has been one of the most hotly contested properties in the city, now part of Lendlease's massive Circular Quay development, Sydney Place.
The multi-level space features a ground floor gastropub, a restaurant-wine bar on the next floor up and a rooftop bar.
Terzini is part of the winning bid by DTL Entertainment, which is led by entrepreneurs Paul Ford and Steve Bannigan, publican Michael Broome and DTL Entertainment's creative director, Terzini himself.
The goal is for the three levels of Jacksons on George to include a sophisticated modern pub on the ground floor, a restaurant and wine bar on level one and a sun-drenched rooftop terrace and cocktail bar, Terzini says.
"It's been a tough few years for Sydney's hospitality industry but we're committed and more than ready to turn this around. It's time to become a global city again," he says.
"At Jacksons, we're creating an innovative, exciting destination where the food and drinks will be simple and elegant, the service will be traditional and the atmosphere will be unforgettable.
"The Jacksons experience will be one that is continually evolving and immersed in local culture with contemporary, cutting-edge music, art, food and beverage, fashion and architecture."
