What a skincare specialist puts on his plate each day
Dermal therapist, James Vivian, 39, shares his day on a plate.
7am Under the guidance of my integrative doctor, I take a mix of supplements and powders to keep me healthy and young from the inside out. I pair these with several glasses of water and a banana.
8am A tea with lactose-free milk – I am intolerant to both lactose and fructose. I also refill my water bottle often during the day.
1pm A wrap with spinach, lettuce, ham, tomato, avocado and pickles.
3pm Two Haigh’s chocolate frogs.
8pm After 12 hours in my clinic, my husband and I head to the local pub where I have a chicken schnitzel with cabbage slaw, a glass of pinot noir and a few tall glasses of soda water.
Dr Joanna McMillan says:
Top marks for … Drinking plenty of water. Good hydration is essential for gut and brain health. Opting for lactose-free milk was a great choice to deliver you the benefits of dairy, including calcium and protein.
If you keep eating like this you’ll … Fail to provide your body with the nutrients and antioxidants it needs. Supplements can’t replace the sheer number of beneficial compounds found in whole foods. This day lacked a variety of vegies, nuts, seeds, legumes and wholegrains.
Why don’t you try … Choosing a healthier pub meal such as baked salmon or a grilled lean steak with plenty of salad or steamed vegies instead of slaw. Snack on a mix of nuts and low-fructose fruits such as kiwifruit, citruses and passionfruit.
Created in collaboration with Adore Beauty, James Vivian has released a line of skincare products, Viviology.
