The Woollahra Hotel

It's a worry when somebody emerges from the kitchen and tells the bar staff there'll be a minimum half hour wait for food, just as you've paid for your order. But when the food arrives (in 20 minutes), it's worth waiting for - especially the $14 pizzas, which are thin-crusted to the point of crunchiness and topped with the likes of lamb, prawns, chorizo or (for the kids) ham and pineapple. If you're in a group for Wednesday trivia night, or grooving to the terrace DJ (Thursdays to Sundays), go the tasting plate of prawn cakes, prosciutto, haloumi and a rich duck pate. That'll arrive in 10 minutes.
