The Grand View Hotel
12.5/20

This pub is still kid-friendly, with a dedicated playroom and under-12's menu. It's still reasonably priced with good service, and the servings are still more than generous. The menu is peppered with interesting choices such as baked goat's cheese tart and blue cheese penne, but quality has slipped. Large servings but little imagination: garlic potato ravioli with prawns needed a lighter sauce and the pork belly could have made better use of the kransky sausage accompanying it. However a good dessert list just pushes it over the line. This pub has been consistently good in the past so it's perhaps worth persisting and choosing carefully.
