Sideways Deli Cafe
Modern Australian$$
No matter which way you look at it, Sideways has it sorted. Inside is buzzing, outside is sunny, and back-to-front is acceptable (desserts first: maybe Greek coconut cake, a house-made, syrupy, lamington-like treat). A kids’ menu, plenty of highchairs and toys keep the little ones content, while grownups decide between the legendary sirloin steak sandwich with beetroot jam, specials from the blackboard (grilled squid salad is a peppy jumble of watermelon, baby spinach, fresh herbs and goat’s cheese), or brekkie classics done well, beaut eggs benny included. A smattering of Greek dishes and obliging service are bonuses.
