Hotel Gearin
13/20
Modern Australian
'The Gearins' is a well-loved band venue but dinner beforehand was always a very basic affair. Now there's more of a commitment to a good feed, with an expanded menu of the usual pub fare with a few refreshing ideas such as spicy channa dhal with pappadums and cucumber raita, pan-fried snapper with lime, cumin and parsley dressing and cous cous salad (only $15.95), and beetroot, walnut and feta salad. There's also a truncated lunch menu for $10 focusing on burgers and steak. This is one of those pubs that hasn't had a corporate makeover and the locals like it like that.
