Frango Bella Vista
Portuguese$$
Less grungy and just as popular as the original Frango chicken shop in Petersham, this north-west branch packs them in. Whether it’s for fast and furious takeaway or an eat-in meal with table service, proper plates and cutlery, all-walks gravitate towards the restaurant’s namesake, frango (Portuguese for chicken). Whole chooks are butterflied and roasted over hot coals, and massive breast fillets are cooked on a hotplate before being slipped into simple burgers: add the fiery-tang of peri peri sauce and you’ll be hooked. There are also espetada skewered meats, salads, seafood and desserts - Portuguese tarts included - but frango tops the pecking order.
