Charcoal Kingdom

Contemporary

It looks like just another chook shop on another main road, but the birds here are worthy of special mention. They're roasted flat-out with a sweet-tangy capsicum and lemon marinade, the white meat juicy and moreish. A choice of vibrant-looking, fresh-tasting salads, including tabbouleh bursting with flavour, turns your chicken order into a well-rounded meal, and the chips aren't the sort you'll feel guilty about later (they're piping hot and not too oily). Burgers, such as the simple grilled chicken with tomato and mayo, make a good quick meal, and chook orders are served with lovely, light, high-sheen toum (garlic dip), pickled veg and flatbread. St George Dragons supporters will approve of the red and white jersey proudly on display.
