Bashuge
Chinese$$
In a case of fighting fire with fire, Bashuge joins the long-established Korean eateries on Koornang Road in turning up the heat, Sichuan-style. Ease in with a cold Tsingtao beer and a plate of pork and Chinese cabbage dumplings before tucking in to sliced beef in spicy soup, braised pork intestines in a mound of dried chillies, or wok-fried double-cooked pork belly. If you can't stand the heat, you don't have to get out of this kitchen: options such as prawns with black-bean sauce will suit milder palates. Chilli icons on the menu guide, and the friendly, efficient staff will point you in the right direction.
