Porcine Bistro has teamed up with Buffalo Trace Bourbon Whiskey to create a one-off barbecue kit. Unfortunately, many hospo staff have been hit hard by the latest lockdown, so a few generous venues have stepped up to provide free or discount meals for those who may not be able to afford it. The Australian Venue Co is providing 2000 "mates bag" for staff and other hospitality workers, which include seven free, fresh meals (plus one dessert) such as beef shepherd's pie, Sri Lankan curry and Thai pumpkin soup. The bag can be claimed via the company's website, and collected from Bungalow 8 at King Street Wharf. Mary's Newtown is also offering a $10 burger and beer for eligible hospo staff (bring your RSA or payslip) during lockdown (text 0435 469 421 for details), while The Taphouse is dishing out free dinners and bourbon shots for all hospo workers, no questions asked.
