Icebergs Dining Room and Bar to close on May 8 for major facelift
The impressive construction of the Bar Americano pop-up at Icebergs Dining Room and Bar isn't the only building work going on at the Bondi Beach dining icon. Founder Maurice Terzini has confirmed the venue will close for winter, with a major design overhaul planned.
"May 8 is our last service," Terzini tells Good Food.
Don't expect a slap of lipstick on the old girl. The famously detail-driven Terzini is overhauling it right down to the toilets.
When Icebergs reopens in September, there will be seafood "troughs" with lobsters in the middle of the dining room, and a new terrace.
They'll also unveil some new interior touches that change with the seasons.
Terzini looked into rewiring the restaurant's signature lights too. "We might need to change them," he says.
"We'll also fix its leaky roof," the restaurateur says of the venue he opened in 2002.
