Chargrill Charlie's expands across Sydney's eastern suburbs
If 2020 has taught us anything, it's that Australia has an unwavering love of takeaway chook (hello, Henrietta's in Surry Hills). And the big daddy of them all, Chargrill Charlie's, is embarking on a massive expansion.
A new shop will open opposite Bunnings in Randwick in a fortnight, while in late November they'll offer an alternative to fish and chips down at Bondi Beach, opening in the former site of the fruit and vegetable shop on Curlewis Street.
"We're also going back to where it all began in 1989, in Coogee," says co-owner Saul Sher. It will open the first week of November on the corner of Coogee Bay Road and Brook Street.
Sher says he has had no shortage of offers to open everywhere from Newcastle to the Gold Coast, but for now they are focusing on their heartland. "It's a great brand and it's the people we know," he says.
