Mizu
13.5/20
Japanese
Mizu makes its mark offering authentic Japanese flair showcased in everything from the traditional earthenware soy sauce jars that adorn every table to the fine array of sake bottles proudly displayed along the main counter. The menu is testament to the art and dedication of the cuisine, portraying balance and obvious skill in every dish. Buri shioyaki is an elegant main course; a salad of kingfish, soba noodles and walnuts topped with wasabi lime mayonnaise and caviar, while the wagyu rib-eye allows the beauty of the meat to shine. Lunchtime bento boxes deliver a selection of menu highlights along with exceedingly good value, with soup, salad, rice, sashimi, tempura and one of seven main dishes including panko-crumbed pork or perennial favourite, chicken teriyaki. Weekend breakfasts, meanwhile, introduce locals to delights such as fresh crab omelette or savoury pancakes served with sticky-sweet Japanese barbecue sauce. Finish with a sake, served warm or cold.
