Contemporary

Whether on the deck at dusk, watching the waves lap the shore a few metres away, or tucked up inside looking out through the glass concertina doors as the wind rattles the palm fronds, a meal at Far Horizons feels like a holiday. Smooth service, tropical elegance and good food are what make it special. If you're drawn to order seafood when beachside, the scallops with green pawpaw and smoked rainbow trout packs a serious sweet and sour punch. The signature main of barramundi, prawns, roesti, rosella jam and bresaola comes with an odd but pleasant cauliflower panna cotta. An entree of sticky pork on watermelon with shallots, pork floss and chilli caramel is an education in flavour. Massaman duck curry is subtly flavoured and tender although a little light on the duck. The big surprise, however, comes last - bread and butter pudding like no other. Gloriously decadent with banana, Baileys, bourbon vanilla gelati, chocolate fudge, caramelised orange and wattle seed sauce.
