AN NT policewoman with the Road Policing command was critically injured in an ATV crash allegedly caused by her partner in the Darwin rural area at the weekend, a court has heard.

Michael Dixon, 35, appeared in the Darwin Local Court on Tuesday, limping and with his arm in a sling, before being granted bail.

He stands charged with drink driving, driving unlicensed, driving uninsured and driving cause serious harm.

The court heard Dixon and his partner, 33-year-old Kristi Wenck, were at a party in the Darwin rural area where Dixon became intoxicated.

He then decided to take them for a joy ride through the backstreets on the Honda ATV buggy in the early hours of Sunday morning.

On Bees Creek Road, the vehicle left the road before hitting a street sign and rolling several times.

The victim suffered critical injuries including a ruptured spleen and a head injury. She remains in the Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

The court heard that WA Police have issued a warrant for Dixon’s arrest in relation to a fatal crash near Perth in December 2019.

Judge John Neill told the court WA Police allege he drove dangerously causing death and drove under the influence of drugs, but he has not been charged yet as he moved to Darwin before the warrant was issued last October.

Prosecutor Andrew Gillard said the woman had not regained consciousness since the accident.
