Prosecution to proceed with more serious charge against alleged Christmas Eve bashers

The prosecution in a case against a group who allegedly brutally bashed a tourist on Darwin’s Mitchell St will argue the man suffered serious psychological harm as a result of the attack.

THE prosecution in a case against a group who allegedly brutally bashed a tourist on Darwin’s Mitchell St will argue the man suffered serious psychological harm as a result of the attack.

Maea Tongamoa, Karl Gruber, Tayarrah Morris and Duol Gile-Lul appeared in the Darwin Local Court on Wednesday where their matters were all adjourned.

Prosecutor Damien Jones told the court a neuropsychology report of the tourist, which will be relied on to proceed with a charge against them of unlawfully causing serious harm, had been provided to the alleged offenders’ lawyers.

The group allegedly attacked the man after an altercation began between them at Monsoons nightclub on Christmas Eve.

The group will return to court in late July.
