KIAN Wise has been named Nightcliff Football Club’s division two best and fairest player, as he awaits his next court date for several charges relating to a Christmas Eve bashing.
Wise won Nightcliff’s Nik Halkitis Medal at a Sunday club function by two votes, playing 12 games in the 2020/21 season.
Wise, 20, played one game – against Waratah on Saturday afternoon – after being remanded on bail on February 9 in relation to an incident on Peel Street.

Nightcliff president Mark Dodge said Wise had won the Halkitis Medal based on his on field performances.
“(On Sunday) we held our vote count, it’s a players’ vote for playing achievements through the season,” he said
“We don’t condone any type of violence on or off the field. We can’t or won’t make any comment about this particular case until it’s been through the courts.”
Earlier this month, Mr Dodge told the NT News Wise would be available to play so long as it didn’t interfere with his bail conditions.
“As he hasn’t yet been before the court to have his matter heard, as long as he meets his bail requirements and comes to training and if he wants to, he would be eligible for selection,” he said.
AFLNT chief executive Stuart Totham said players could be stood down if they had been found to bring the game into disrepute following the verdict of court proceedings.
“As an anti-violence campaigner, AFLNT condemns any incidents of violence in the community,” he said.
“AFLNT can allow players in community football competitions to continue to play the game if they are awaiting trial and meeting legal requirements.”
