Alice Springs Police arrest 24-year-old man who allegedly assaulted partner, left her with stranger

A man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting his partner before flagging down a motorist for help, leaving her with the stranger. Read the latest Red Centre crime news.

March 1, 4.15pm: A 24-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting his partner, before flagging down a motorist and leaving her with the stranger.

About 12.30am on March 1, police received a report that a man had flagged down a vehicle travelling on Larapinta Drive, Alice Springs.

Police say the man asked the vehicle’s occupant to help his 20-year-old female partner who was injured and unconscious.

NT Police allege the man named himself as the perpetrator before leaving the scene.

Police and St John Ambulance took the woman to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment where she remains in a stable condition.

The man has since been arrested and remains in police custody.

As at the time of print, charges have not been laid.

Eleven car windows smashed on same Red Centre street

February 27, 2pm: More than 10 cars have had their windows smashed in Alice Springs, but nothing was stolen from the cars, according to police.

NT Police said they were first notified that 11 vehicles had their windows smashed in Alice Springs at about 6.30am Thursday morning.

All the vehicles were parked on Stephens Rd, police said.

“At this stage, no property has been reported stolen from inside the vehicles,” police said.

Investigations are ongoing, police said, and anyone with information – such as CCTV or dashcam footage – is urged to get in touch on 131 444.

American woman robbed while in hospital, passport, bank cards, purse taken

February 24, 5pm: An American woman has been robbed while in hospital in the Red Centre, but police say they’ve caught the woman alleged to have committed the theft.

Alice Springs police said the woman was robbed on Friday while she was in hospital in Alice Springs.

Her passport, bank cards, and purse were stolen, they allege.

An investigation into credit card transactions and CCTV led police to arrest a 30-year-old woman in relation to the theft.

The woman was found at a licensed premises on Barrett Drive in Alice Springs.

She has been charged with obtaining property by deception, theft, and unlawfully possessing property.

Police said the woman will front the judge in the Alice Springs Local Court on Tuesday.

NTG cars’ windows smashed, bumper removed

February 24, 3.30pm: A Northern Territory Government car has had its bumper stolen, while others have had their windows smashed while parked in Alice Springs.

NT Police said the vehicle damage happened at a government building on Bath St on Friday about 11pm.

A total of five cars had their windows smashed.

The rear bumper was also removed from one of the vehicles, according to police.

Police said investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to get in touch on 131 444.

Police have asked reference number P25051628 be quoted in relation.
