A MAN charged with causing a crash in December, which resulted in the deaths of two young men, has faced court.
Douglas Ricky, 20, appeared in the Darwin Local Court on Wednesday where he stands charged with a raft of offences including driving a motor vehicle causing death, recklessly endangering life, driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.
Prosecutor Steve Ledek said evidence was still being gathered, including from an autopsy, as both the deceased died after the alleged offending.
Ricky was allegedly behind the wheel of a Holden Commodore travelling at a high speed on the Stuart Highway at Katherine at around 11pm on December 10 last year.
The car crashed into a light pole on a median strip, with both passengers in the back seat having to be extracted from the car.
The 24-year-old and 19-year-old men were both flown to the Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition and both died in the weeks following the crash.
