FRIENDS and family are mourning the loss of a 20-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in a shopping centre car park in Karama.
Dillon Willis was at the Karama Shopping Plaza on Wednesday night when police will allege two men jumped out of a vehicle and attacked and stabbed him.
Emergency services were called but the 20-year-old tragically died on arrival at Royal Darwin Hospital.
Darwin brothers Matthew, 26, and Peter Gardiner, 20, stand charged for his murder.
Dillon’s parents Paul and Michell said their son would be deeply missed by their family, including his siblings Nat, Ax, Cory, Am, Bradley and Robert.
“Dillon was not only well respected amongst his peers but wouldn’t ever hesitate to help a friend in need and it came naturally to him,” they said in a joint family statement.
“Now there is nothing for him, it all ends.
“So let’s all hold hands or clap or sing. And let’s make a sound for our little king.”
A friend of Mr Willis’ family, Jenny Sharp, has started a GoFundMe to help them cover the costs of his funeral, which has raised over $3000 so far.
“Dillon was a kind and gentle soul and was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” she said.
“He lost his life too soon and so tragically.
“We ask for everyone to please dig deep and help this family give their son a beautiful send-off that he deserves.”
Matthew Gardiner also faces a separate charge of attempted murder over the allegedly related stabbing of a woman a short time later.
The woman remains in a serious but stable condition in the Royal Darwin Hospital.
