A COURT proceeding took an unexpected turn when the father of a teenager charged with his alleged involvement in a brutal bashing in the Darwin CBD was arrested by police waiting outside the courthouse.
Karl Gruber, 19, appeared in the Darwin Local Court on Wednesday alongside four of his co-offenders with the support of a number of family members including his father, Karl Gruber Sr, and mother in the courtroom.
The NT News understands a number of police officers were waiting for Mr Gruber Sr outside court, who swiftly arrested him and bundled him into a paddy wagon as soon as he set foot outside.
An NT Police spokeswoman confirmed a 50-year-old man was arrested for allegedly breaching a domestic violence order.
